COMPANY PROFILE
The Wado International Karate-Do Federation Philippines is one of the country branch dojos of Wado Kokusai Karate-Do Renmei (officially Wado International Karate-Do Federation or WIKF) under Grandmaster Tatsuo Suzuki 8th Dan Hanshi.
It was established on March 17, 1987 by Ronald Vistro Sensei, then a 2nd Dan and a journalism student at the University of Pangasinan. It teaches authentic Wado Ryu Karate and maintained a high standard of training and discipline. It is regarded as one of the most well-established karate organizations in the country.
The corporation operates with a national office at Bugallon St., San Carlos City, Pangasinan and a Hombu Dojo at the City Sports Dome named Wado Ryu Karate-Do Institute that produces countless wins in the tournament arena. In 1990, Sensei Vistro was made a country branch representative of WIKF with the help of Vincent Williams, then the Secretary General of UKKW (WIKF). This feat formally made him the only legitimate Wado instructor in the country, preceding other wannabes. Legitimate in a sense that Sensei Vistro was the first Filipino who incorporated genuine Wado training in the syllabus to include kata and techniques at that time. This was followed by inimitable athletes who dominated most competitions in the country. The first By-Laws of Corporation and Rules of Order was drafted in 1993 with a formulated vision, “United Wado Men Under A Strong Organization.”
In 2001, Sensei Vistro was ordered by the Grandmaster, through a letter of instruction, to develop WIKF in the country as a national association. This resulted to his request of reassignment in nearby stations as a naval officer, from far flung areas, to strictly supervise the training of his students in Pangasinan and strengthen the corporation’s membership in the Philippine Karate-Do Federation (PKF).
At present, the corporation has five (5) Major Branches nationwide, six (6) Hombu Dojo Branches, 17 String Chapters and three (3) special training groups. These include seven (7) colleges and universities. Likewise, the corporation has its own group of referees, corporate officers, athletes council and technical and standing committees. It also conducts the following activities on yearly basis; MILO Summer Karate Clinic, Developmental Training, Instructor Package Courses, Referee Courses, Kata and Kumite Clinics, Tournament Management Courses, Corporate Protocols and Leadership Course. The hombu dojo is also task to conduct three (3) mandatory tournaments; an invitational level, a national level, and an-All Wado Cup Challenge. The Philippine Karate-Do Council (PKC) was founded in 2006 as a political association of the corporation for sport-karate for membership in the PKF.
Conclusively, the corporation has participated in 5 international competitions, 15 National Open, 7 Invitational on National Level, 43 Invitational on Luzon Level, 15 Invitational on Regional Level, 10 Special Tournaments, 3 Philippine Olympic Festival, 3 Regional PRISAA, 2 National PRISAA, 10 All-Wado Suzuki Cup (Philippine Level), 4 Admiral’s Cup and 2 AFP Olympics. The Wado athletes are also participating in Milo Super Karate Kids at SM Malls on monthly basis.

MISSION
TO ATTAIN THE PRINCIPLES AND VISION OF THE ORGANIZATION IN ORDER TO PRODUCE INSPIRING ACHIEVEMENTS.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
1. The organization shall adopt and pursue the doctrines of martial arts in all phases of training and official gathering.
2. The organization shall perpetuate and study the authentic techniques & principles of Wado Ryu Karate through the standard syllabus of training set forth by the Wado International Karate-Do Federation (WIKF).
3.. The organization shall establish national corporate groups (NCG) amalgamating karate program, fitness system, business and merchandize, and charity works. The karate program shall have a technical training institution (or karate school) as operating arm with auxiliary groups and major branches in order to propel the realization of cohesive structural management of Wado hierarchy. Each NCG shall have by-laws of corporation and corporate office with elected officials & directors.
4. The organization shall proclaim God as the center of training and the ultimate source of martial science and spiritual growth.
5. The organization shall grant free training to any financially incapable individual of good moral character willing to learn karate. They shall fall under the Grant-In-Aid (GIA) Program coming from each national corporate group.
6. The organization shall propagate anti-drug addiction and anti-crime programs to help establish a healthy society.
7. The organization shall value the dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect to women and elders.
8. The organization shall participate in any invitational competition initiated by a karate association of good standing, government sanctioned tournaments, special training and seminars to further develop the skills and well-being of its practitioners.
9. The organization shall protect and promote the right to health the practitioners and instill healthful training among them.
10. The organization shall organize for the whole fiscal year one national level karate tournament (invitational), one All-Wado game (exclusive for Wado practitioners) and one authorize WIKF competition (“National Suzuki Cup Challenge”). Likewise, a martial arts exhibition shall be spearheaded at least once a year to foster camaraderie and develop brotherhood among other practitioners of karate schools.
11. The organization, through its own unique way, shall render community services and generate funds to help a needy populace.
12. The organization shall generate ventures to procure equipage, training gears and educational materials to its members and practitioners on reasonable price.
13. The organization shall formulate self-esteemed vision, mission and capabilities for each national corporate group to attain strong foundations and organizational strength.
14. The organization shall enhance its legal avenues to preserve its political gains and safeguard its ideals against pessimistic stratagem from scrupulous associations.
15. The organization shall maintain high degree of integrity as an association of Wado men of good reputation. It shall not be governed by any martial art organization other than WIKF and a legitimate national sports association. |
